What’s a good way to encrypt an email attachment (it’s an excel spreadsheet) to securely send to an external trading partner? I.e. it’s a B2B scenario.

pickles asked:

I had this computer guy “help” me with my computer yesterday, something that should have taken 5 minutes took 5 hours and it made me worse off than i was at the beginning. he then said i/my computer problems were driving him crazy and he cut off the conversation and said “not today”. i emailed him to ask about the changes he made me do yet he has not replied.

Do i email him again? Do i accept there are simply more security risks rather than less when i started? i have some urgent work i need to get done this weekend and need to make sure i send it securely over email. im so distracted about the security sending it i cant do the work i need to get done myself.

what do i do? email him? accept he cut me off via email/IM?

if anyone knows anything about Tor add on of Firefox please could you contact me over email to discuss it? (its just a question about security levels- it will not take five hours promise ;) )
thanks
I installed it because HE TOLD ME TO.

Cryptography problem?

Mist asked:

What would be a solution to following problem?
Shipping the diamond. A person must send a 200 carat polished diamond (or something quite valuable) to a customer, through an untrustworthy carrier, who supplies the person a container but does not know the contents that will go into the box. The sending person and the recipient customer both have a lock with a key that is not identical. The carrier’s transportation can be repeated. How will the sending person securely send the diamond to the customer without the carrier taking the contents and run away with it? What is the concept behind the solution?

mimi asked:

my first grader had her christmas party at school yesterday. they all have a gift exchange. i (like a dutiful parent) sent in gifts for her teacher and her bus driver. i sent in gift bottles of wine. they were wrapped and i securely packed them in her book bag.
today, (just a minute ago) i got a call from the school. they want to see me to discuss my gift. i told them no need to thank me…but then i got the attitude and was told to come in NOW. should i bother? you would think they’d have been appreciative and thankful! what should i do?
just to let you know…i am not giving the thumbs downs….i was tempted to give stackers one though!
