Below is the text of an email a friend has received more than once. Is it legitimate, or a phishing scam?

rif2b asked:

I received a letter from the above subject asking to send US$40/= to process payment securely kept in escrow. What surprises me is that there is no tele nbr, fax nbr nor any other details pertaining to this so-called organization. Can you please address this matter to me explaining whether these guys are genuine or just a scam and fake! If this is a fake company, I suggest that these guys be dealt with the authorities to stop dooping people and ripping off their monies.
An early reply will be appreciated.

Tks & Rgds

Kenj asked:

I cannot get my computer to recognize my printer. I have tried several printers, one being brand new- installed the software disk, added new printer, etc..however when I send something to print it will not & it has an error in the printing console next to the page sent to be printed. tried uninstalling & reinstalling…no use. Everything is connected properly and securely- its not a cable issue. Computer is an E Machines with XP Home Edition, Printer in an HP all in one.
Any suggestions of what could be wrong?
It’s a USB connection printer. I’ve tried 3 different USB ports on the computer- no luck. Printer is set as default.
