I want to make a purchase at a small winery in Tuscany but I’m not sure how to get credit card info to them safely. I’ve been to the winery and I know that they are upstanding so I trust them. But, I don’t want to email my credit card info (including security code) for fear someone could intercept it. Is there a safe and secure way to send my credit card info or electronic funds to this business in Italy?

Hi! Right now I’ve got a pacific.net ID that I use to send and receive emails thru my Outlook Express. I wanna secure my Outlook, so that no one else but I will be able to access my Outlook. I’m a computer neanderthal. Can someone tell me how I can set up a password system or something to secure my Outlook?

Also, I’d like it to be watched for one play only. Are there any services that give you the option to close down the file after it has been viewed?
I don’t want a password protected Vimeo – need something that is for limited play and can’t be passed around.

I only have internet access from my workplace on my personal laptop. Can all of my activity be traced through the cable connection? If so, even when I ‘delete history’? Am I an idiot for having ***** of myself in a private email account and trying to think of a secure way to send one to my husband on the other side of the world?

My company is shifting their data security emphasis to monitor 3rd parties. For example: we’re constantly sending data to a firm that processes our finances and performs basic accounting/reporting. How do we ensure these 3rd parties aren’t mishandling our data? How do we know if Joe Shmoe isn’t copying our files, losing/replicating our tapes, or distributing our sensitive information? I’m looking for technologies, software, questionnaires, or some methodology that provides a meaningful assessment or metric that indicates how secure our data is once it leaves our network.
Duce’s response is more inline with what I’m looking for. We’ve already established contracts with these 3rd parties that prevent them from mishandling our data, but nothing is full-proof. Our business wouldn’t exist if our data was in the wrong hands, so we’re not satisfied with just a legal contract that says “we’ll sue you if you f-up”. We’ve got the encryption down, we have reliable means of sending data, but nothing that helps us assess a 3rd party’s handling of our data. Any tracking mechanisms? Software-related quality assurance, maybe? Tools that provide metrics that give an indication as to how responsible/reliable another company’s infrastructure is?

I have this game called NBA 2k8 for the ps3, and it will only allow me to send challenges to people if I have my firewall turned off. At the same time, I’m thinking that a virus might enter my computer if I have it off.

Can I still be secure if I have my firewall turned off?
