How can I customize shoes with rhinestones/crystals?

I’d like to know the process of customizing my own shoes with rhinestones, diamantes, crystals, etc myself. I don’t want to send them off anywhere as I’d like to be able to do them myself. Either a whole shoe or just the heel or just the strap. Can someone let me know what specific materials (glue, varnish, type of crystal, etc) I need and the actual process of applying them to the shoe securely? Thanks in advance!

    I love glitzy looking shoes and put all kinds of sequins rhinestones and anything else that takes my fancy on them. Depending on what the shoes are made of, if it’s soft patent or fabric I sew them on use a cowl or darning needle, to attach rhinestones or if I am gluing I use Araldite.

    You can buy kits of crystals and glue, however, i imagine because the shoe is round you will have great difficulty actually getting them to stick.
