How long will wine stay fresh?

send securely
Lynn asked:

Our friends got married and sent us home with about 15 bottles of wine that have all been opened, each has a cork securely in it, but I still wonder how long it will stay fresh for.

Depends on the quality of the wine (I am not an expert), if you keep them in a cellar they might last a bit longer but generally won’t be good much longer

A few days before they start drastically changing in taste. You should probably keep them in the refrigerator.

The wine certainly won’t “spoil” or do anything to harm you, so if it still tastes good to you in a week, keep drinking it. You can also hang onto it to cook with. I’m sure people will disagree with me on this – but I cook with wine that is 2, 3, 4 weeks old and I can’t tell the difference.

There is a school of thought that you can freeze leftover wine – it would probably be worth a shot for you. But put some bottles in the freezer now – it wouldn’t make sense to freeze them once they start going downhill.
