Is there any safe, secure way to send money to China? And be able to get my money back if there’s a problem?

secure send
YourLizzy.com asked:

I need to send $900. Is there a safe way to do this, where if I had any problems…I could report it and get my money back? (like if they didn’t send the item or something)

Paypal doesn’t offer protection for buyers if the other person is outside the U.S.

And Escrow.com is out of the picture.

Any other ideas?

Why? Is this a scam? Did someone ask you to send money and they would pay you back with more attached? It happened to me a couple of times. Add more info.

Let me start by telling you one REALLY BAD way…

NEVER NEVER NEVER do a bank to bank transfer. I got burned for $1000 on ebay doing that once. I was lucky enough that Citibank had a very nice manager in their fraud department, which got my money back after 8 months. Even MY bank didn’t want to help me.

I don’t expect anyone in China to a) speak english b) Help you c) extend any kind of fraud protection.

Your best bet is to use a third party arbitration where you send the money to a third party, they send the product to the same third party, and when both arrive, it gets shipped to you, and they give the money to the seller in China. It’s a little more expensive, but you won’t lose nearly what you would if you “guessed wrong”. And thousands of scammers are waiting for you to guess wrong because they know you are powerless to do anything about it. I **** to be negative, but I’ve been there.

I don’t remember what it is called, but I’m sure on the ebay forums, someone will be able to tell you in a second.

In short, you have no rights when it comes to financial accountability in China. Your safest bet is accountability through a third party, **** it up and pay slightly more for a HUGE piece of mind.

    Good luck!

Do you have a Western Union where you live. I have sent money to Chile this way and was very safe. Maybe you could find out through them.

There are Western Union offices in China. I would reckon that’s your best bet.
