is this enough time? dress fittings?

send securely
MRS*K*2B! asked:

Hey all, as some of you know i went to see my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses on saturday as they had arrived in the shop (yay!)

i was so nervous i was shaking before i walked in! i sat blindfolded while all of my girls put their dresses on 1 by one, they were all joking around saying things like ‘arghh! theyre bright pink!/ theyre too short!’ etc! but i didnt fall for it! once they all had theirs on, i got lead into the stall and got my dress on, so i hadnt seen them, they hadnt seen me! i then revealed and as soon as i saw them i burst out crying! it was so emotional because the reality hit me like a brick wall!

i so didnt want to take my dress off even though it needs altering! i was so in love!

anyways i finally got changed and we discussed fittings, the lady said we should only need one or 2 fittings because the sizes are pretty spot on. so she suggested booking for january (my wedding is 1st week of may) i wanted to book for this december, but she insisted i waited til january, so i booked for the 22nd.

is this enough time? im worried that the dresses wont be ready in time, or the alterations wont be spot on, they do the alterations in store so theres no time for sending to seamsteress.

also, i have had a lace back put into my dress so i can literally pull the waist in to form more of a desireable shape, when the lady did my dress up she only loosely laced it, of course its up to me how i wear my dress but should i comment to her at the fitting that i plan on pulling the holy s**t out of the back to make sure im securely tied in? im thinking that if she lets it out a bit like she plans to then it will be too big?

please help

thank you :D

Don’t you trust her? I think she knows what she is doing but just to be on the safe side go/call her and expain to her exactly what you want and she will understand. And they should be ready in May

My dress didn’t even come into the bridal shop until 3 weeks before my wedding! It fit perfectly except it was too long (I’m only 5’2″ and was wearing only 1″ heels for my wedding). I had ordered my dress on September 25, 2008 and it didn’t come into until June 20, 2009! My wedding was 7-11-09. Luckily, everything worked out in the end. Although the bridal shop said they usually like to get the wedding dresses in 2 months before the wedding to allow for enough fitting time! They say 2 months because they want to fit you as close to your wedding day as possible because as we all know, weight can fluctuate!
