When a package you send to a foreign country is lost, what usually happened to it?

I have sent a great many packages all over the world and sometimes they are lost, I know they were securely packaged and addressed correctly. Do you believe they were stolen by someone in Customs or what? They were sent to every country imaginable, most were stolen in Mexico, Phillippines and S Africa (Johannesburg). Comments?

    Hopefully they ended up in the hands of people who needed the merchandise as much as the folks you were sending it to.

    No one knows this answer, but I bet there is a black market from many customs departments.
