Where can I ship a package dvds, if not to my house?

send securely
Bill Evans asked:

I am about to purchase a large bulk of DVDs, about 500 or so, from an online distributor. I live in an apartment and I am not always home. I don’t have an office or business I can send to, nor do I know any friends or neighbors that live in the area (i just moved here and the building is pretty much empty). Its a very expensive package, will probably be large, and I don’t want to risk losing it to theft. I already found out I can’t ship it to a PO box from a parcel service (like fed-ex to post office box). I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how I can securely get this package delivered to a location where I can pick it up. It will probably need to be signed for too since it will be insured. Bah! Any ideas, any help, will be amazing! thanks :)

COntact the shipper if its fed ex or ups and ask them if you can pick up the package at the closet location to you. If you explain to them the situation I bet you would be surprised on how helpfull they can be.

I believe that if you talk to your local post office, there is a way that they can hold it for pick-up. If it needs to be signed for, they will do this anyway, but you could probably request it.

Your best bet would be to pick it up at local shipping office. If the person shipping the package can make a note to hold at the office that might work or call the local shipping company to see if they can hold the package until you pick it up personally.
