    1200 troops
    1969 miles

    = 0.61 troops per mile.

500 million dollars equals 1/1400th of the banker bail out.

Still, I’m surprised they’re giving it this much attention.

The US-Mexican border is 1969 miles long.

One lone trooper watching more than a mile of border isn’t going to help much. When he goes to sleep they will all rush across his bit.

NO… in 2007, President Bush sent more than 6000 National Guard members to the US-Mexico border to supplement the Border Patrol.

That would be 5 times as many troops as proposed now…

Then again, when President Bush sent those troops… liberals (including Senator Obama) claimed it was a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act and threatened lawsuits.

Depends what they will do when they get there! For the last 30 years Democrats have insisted that no one can enforce the border but border patrol. Minutemen were refused, common citizens were not allowed to enforce their own border fences, police were not allowed to ask questions.

Bush tried to build a fence, which was partially completed, but the areas that were deemed an ENVIRONMENTAL problem, were left open. This liberal agenda did well to protect the environment, since then, there is nothing but trash, body fluids, excrement, and tracks of people moving through the trails. It is not even safe to go there.

This was not a Republican idea, that was Democrats, just like they are fighting Arizona NOW!!

The last I heard was he refused to enforce the border. Now he has changed his stance. See link.

But I do not trust him. See second link.

When Barack Obama won the presidential election in November 2008, the supporters of amnesty, loose border enforcement, and increased immigration thought they had it made. Candidate Obama repeatedly promised to make it “a top priority in my first year as President” to provide illegal aliens a “path to citizenship” and to increase the levels of future immigration.

After reading a few of “proud tea partier’s” comments I have to assume he’s a democrat posing as a republican, right? Is anyone as short sighted as he claims to be? Talk about cut off your nose to spite your face.

Answer to the question, yes and no. The real fix is even simpler and wouldn’t cost a penny. Change the focus from the immigrants to the employers and the problem will take care of itself while the government can reap the benefits of massive fines from crooked companies that can actually pay them.
