Xbox 360 Console/HD Issue?

I suppouse the problem can be classified as both an HD and a console issue. Anyways here goes:

Recently my 360 has been having some wierd issues. After turning on the Xbox and playing it for a certain amount of time (the time that it occurs is pretty random) my Xbox will automatically restart itself. It does two things: annoy the crap out of me, and take my HD settings from 720p back down to 480p. When I go to System Settings it says the HD switch on the component cable “box” is flicked to TV mode. Of course when I go back to look, it’s flicked to HDTV mode.

I’ve checked the component cables. They’re all in check and securely fastened on the side of my tv and on the back of my Xbox. The switch is pushed all the way back to HDTV and it still refuses to fix the problem. The most effective method I’ve found to temporarily fix it is to turn off my Xbox, pull the cable out of my Xbox, play with the switch on the component cables, and plug it back in.

To make things even stranger, I had the same problem one year ago. Eventually the problem went away for whatever reason and has mysteriously popped back up for the summer. I’d call Microsoft but I know that they’d probably misdiagnose my problem, have me send it in for a $99 fix for the Xbox and not the cables. Then I’ll be stuck with an empty wallet and an Xbox that doesn’t even work right.

that usually only happens when you disconnect it from power completely.
maybe it’s your power supply, do you have anyone you know who owns a 360 who would lend you their cords to see if it was the console or the cords?

maybe even try a different outlet, could be some weird power surges.
make sure your harddrive is in secure too.

so i guess there’s your options.

    borrow someone elses cords
    and or
    plug into a different outlet.

if you want to be really outgoing you could reset your console to factory settings too.

at least that way it would be a safe call to know it wasn’t some weird coding or something.

the guy who said get a ps3 is dumb.
