Since you are using SQL, you'll want to build in code that will prevent SQL injection attacks. There are tons of things attackers can do to hijack your website and your scripts. Below, I have linked an absolutely fantastic web page on securing your PHP/SQL (and some other stuff) scripts. It's very well written and easy to understand! Good luck!
